Euro Nordic steps into breakbulk market

Since 1999, we have been active in handling and transporting dry bulk, liquid bulk and containers. At Euro Nordic we like to think big. That is why we started to serve breakbulk. We recently were responsible for the custom clearance, documentation and transport of several machine parts and crates that will be used in the construction of a power plant. 

Carsten van Kamperdijk, General Manager Logistics at Euro Nordic elaborates: The breakbulk market involves a lot of manual work and brain power. Transporting heavy lift cargo is something different than moving containers, hence each piece must be loaded with great care, oftentimes with special equipment and tailor made. To be on top of things in this industry, more and more colleagues are being trained to become experts in handling breakbulk cargo".

In the last decades, the port of Antwerp and Rotterdam established a strong foothold in handling breakbulk cargo.Both ports are equipped for the fast, efficient and reliable handling of all types of breakbulk. Ships and terminals that are used for breakbulk shipping are often outfitted with special cranes and other pieces of equipment to accommodate such loads. Carsten sees this development as very positive: “This market is new and exciting for us and we are looking forward to all opportunities to unfold in Antwerp, Rotterdam and beyond.”
